Clay vs Composite poker chips. What's the difference?
Choose between all clay, clay composite, or composite poker chips. All of these chips are perfect for home games.
All Clay Poker Chips These chips are made of pure clay, and have the same feel of a real casino poker chip. They make the same sound as casino chips when they are shuffled. All clay poker chips often break down after a long period of use, but with proper care, they can last longer. After a few months of use, all clay chips will round out and have a vintage look. All clay chips are usually lighter in weight, for example, 9 or 10 grams.
Clay Poker Chips (Clay Composite)These chips are actually called Clay Composite because the mold of the chip is made completely of clay, but they contain a metal insert inside the chip. This increases the overall chip weight. Clay composite chips are usually heavier in weight, for example, 11.5 or 13.5 grams.
Composite Poker ChipsComposite poker chips are sometimes referred to as ABS composite. Composite poker chips are very durable and will usually last a lifetime if handled with proper care. These chips are made of a hard compressed plastic material, and feel similar to a Clay Composite chip. Composite poker chips also have a metal insert to adjust the chip weight. Composite poker chips are usually average in weight, for example, 11.5 grams.
